WHAT TO DO FIRST
Stop using the device immediately
The single biggest factor in recovery success is how the device is treated after data loss. Continuing to use a drive after deletion or a crash can overwrite the exact data you are trying to recover.
Physical damage from power surges, drops, or liquid exposure sometimes needs specialised handling to avoid making the damage worse. We assess the device before attempting anything, so we do not turn a recoverable problem into an unrecoverable one.
On the other side of the same problem: if a device is being sold, donated, or retired, formatting it is not enough to remove what was on it. We handle secure destruction for exactly that reason.

Is data destruction actually different from deleting files?
Yes. Deleting files or formatting a drive does not erase the underlying data, it just hides it. Secure destruction uses proper wiping methods so the data cannot be recovered by anyone else.
